Place of the event

Brunswick

The court attended

Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court
Acting Solicitor: Kristina Kothrakis

Facts of the Case

The client was charged with 2 charges of burglary, and one of attempted burglary on residential premises. He was also charged with a number of related dishonesty, criminal damage and assault charges. He has an extensive criminal history, with multiple prior convictions of this nature, for which he had received lengthy periods of imprisonment.

This offending also breached a 2 month suspended sentence.

Results Achieved

The client was in a period of relative stability at the time of the plea. He had ceased drug use, and had stable accommodation.

The Magistrate ultimately sentenced him to 13 months imprisonment, and set a very low minimum of 3 months to serve, before being eligible for parole. This term was significantly less than those he had previously served for the same type of offending.

The suspended sentence was restored, and ordered to run concurrently with the above sentence.
