The client was a 20-year-old with no prior Court appearances. The offending occurred after the accused boarded a train without a ticket and was approached by ticket inspectors because he had his feet on the seats. He was escorted from the train, where he was verbally abusive to the ticket inspectors.
The police were eventually called and attended. As well as being charged for the public transport offences, he was charged for resisting/assaulting police.
We negotiated the removal of a large number of the public transport offences. In relation to all charges, the accused was placed on an adjourned undertaking (good behavior bond), without conviction, for 12 months and ordered to make donations totaling $700 to the Salvation Army and the Blue Ribbon Foundation.
